Just a quick random blog post. While in the music department at my college some of the teachers left out some old books and sheet music. I saw all this olds stuff and was like "I'm inspired to do a project" so here is just an overview of what I found and the project that I have in mind.
I kinda picked out stuff that people really wouldn't care for. Most of the stuff was about Music education. I was looking for more along the lines of old sheet music. I just like the visual appeal of sheet music. Sometimes the dots and lines make such interesting patterns.
I've even found a couple of books of nursery rhymes and folk songs.
I also found some old programs. I really like the old paper. Their texture is so interesting.
One of my favorite finds is this old song book.
The copyright is dated 1922. So it's around 90 years old. I'm not sure if that's the year it was printed though. It's just really interesting to see such old paper. It's so fragile. The stapes holding on to the paper are all rusted too. On the back if the book is an old ad for Kingsbury Pianos.
I got an idea of doing an altered book with all this stuff. Maybe repurposing these old books into something new. I found this church book and thought it would make a good book to alter. It's all red and the binding seems strong enough to handle all that I would do to it.
I'm looking forward to this project and I have so many ideas. It will be put aside for a rainy day. Right now other projects need my attention. Both school projects and professional projects.
anyway, thanks for reading!
